Original Herb and Bitters Cocktails

Salvatrix

Upcoming TDN – Sherry

Sherry is one ingredient we have yet to explore for Thursday Drink Night, perhaps because it rarely finds its way into modern cocktails. Sure, dig up some dusty old tomes and you’ll be drowned in it, but what about some new potions? Join us for this week’s TDN ( What’s Thursday Drink Night? ) and help bring Sherry back.

Which Sherries should you bring? Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Olorosso, and Pedro Ximenez. Though if you want to be nice to your wallet, get one somewhere in the middle. Lustau, Bodegas Dios Baco, and Hidalgo are all good brands.

The prize for the best original cocktail will win a copy of Modern American Drinks by George Kappeler, courtesy of CocktailKingdom.com.

Hey, thanks for including mine even though it needs work. I’m playing with a tweak to better it.

When I saw this post last night I had to make myself another Kilmacope; it proved to be as brilliant as I remembered. Really a great drink. Did Greg ever say from where the 2nd half of the name derives?

    Stunning photograps and garnishes!

    Cheers!

On the Torch Ginger Fizz recipe – is that 2 *oz* of gin? or *1/2* oz of gin?

  4. RickNo Gravatar says:

1/2oz I believe, thanks for the catch!

  5. That Sailor’s Salvation seems truly delightful and it’s going to be the first one I make. I have had Angostura bitters stocked up for quite sometime and I haven’t used it. Thanks for these beverage recipes. These are truly winning cocktails that will be a hit during any occasion.
