Cheater's Swizzle

Upcoming TDN – Beefeater 24

Gin has been one of the most successful Thursday Drink Night themes, generating a vast array of tasty libations each time its featured. Well, nothing’s being held back this time. In addition to our regular chat room intensity, several of us will be live at the Quarter Bar in New York City. A few friends of the Mixoloseum as well as several cocktail luminaries will be joining us as well: Greg Boehm of Mud Puddle Books, David Wondrich, Michael Dietsch from A Dash of Bitters, Dan Warner Brand Ambassador for Beefeater 24, as well as a host of Pernod-Ricard and NOVA folks. We’ll have a web cam set up so you can gawk at us too. The winning cocktail of the evening will receive a copy of The Jones Complete Bar Guide courtesy of Mud Puddle Books.

TDN Swizzle Wrap-Up

A swizzle is a cocktail that benefits from the dilution offered by swirling around a load of crushed ice in a glass. It generally features high-proof spirits and citrus, though these aren’t requirements. Not that we follow requirements during Thursday Drink Night or anything. The poll was extremely close this time, but a refreshing cocktail emerged victorious at the last minute.

Winning Cocktail

Limoncello Swizzle

  • 2oz gin
  • sprinkle of lime juice
  • 1/2oz limoncello
  • fresh mint, torn
  • lemon soda, to top

Crush 1000lbs of ice and use only the pieces that look exactly like the Mixoloseum Logo for your cocktail. Swizzle and top with lemon soda.

  2. […] Making a lime’s worth of wedges takes but a few minutes at most, and they are a great way of showing off without going the Full Penguin. […]

Kaiser Penguin is a cocktail blog featuring original recipes, homemade ingredients, classic cocktails, and tiki drinks.

Why on Earth did you name your blog “Kaiser Penguin?”

It is a well-known fact that penguins are members of high society and enjoy fine cocktails. Our very own kaiser penguin would like me to mention that he also enjoys various treats from the sea.
